    Post Image

I suddenly was overjoyed to know that my one-week vacation was granted from office. I wasted no further time and planned a one week trip to the princely state of Rajasthan. Here is a travelogue for the same for your knowledge. I would also like to thank Rajputana Cabs team for their assistance in complete Rajasthan Tour in AC Car.

    Day 1

On day one of my trip, I took a flight from Delhi to Jodhpur and landed into the Blue City in the morning. There are lots to do in Jodhpur and several places to visit and explore. I stayed at the Taj Vivanta Palace which is a famous luxury hotel in Jodhpur. After some rest, I started in the evening for a stroll through the city. I was only able to visit the Kaylana Lake in the evening because I was exhausted with the entire journey.

A quick note – have a look at this Jaipur Ranthambore Taxi service by Rajputana Cabs which is quite popular among travelers exploring Jodhpur.

    Day 2

I went to the most famous attraction of Jodhpur, the magnificent Mehrangarh Fort. It is a spectacle to view the magnanimous Mehrangarh Fort, and it took me almost half of the day to explore the fort in detail. My next stop was at the Umaid Bhavan Palace. I explored the museums inside the palace and its artifacts. In the evening, I visit the Jaswant Thada and finally the Balsamand Lake. My trip of Jodhpur was almost over. I went off to bed to prepare for a new day in a new city.

My next visit was to Jaisalmer. I took a train from Jodhpur to travel to the Gateway of the Great Indian Desert-Thar. Several trains ply between Jaisalmer and Jodhpur. In Jaisalmer, I stayed at the Welcome Heritage Hotel which is a luxurious staying option in Jaisalmer. It is imperative to say that my next visit was at the Jaisalmer Fort which is more popularly known as the Golden Fort. I explored the other interesting places in Jaisalmer like Patwon ki Haveli, Salim Singh ki Haveli and also the Bada Bagh. The next day I went to the Sam sand dune which is a must visit place when one is in Jaisalmer. I soaked in the look and feel of the desert life and came back fulfilled with some life lasting memories.

    On day five

I took a train to Bikaner. Bikaner is a heritage city with immensely popular tourist destinations like Junagarh Fort and the Jain temple of Bhandasar. There is also the Gajner Lake and Shri Laxminath temple. I stayed at the Raj Vilas Palace which is a luxurious and a heritage hotel. Bikaner for that matter is also a city of snacks. A lot of different varieties of snacks are available in Bikaner, which can truly be a feast for the food lovers. For me, it was the best holiday experience, visiting these three lovely cities of Rajasthan and exploring the unknown places within this beautiful state of India. Now it was time for me to go back to Delhi and join back my office to earn my regular bread and butter. One thing is for sure that the memories of these beautiful cities will remain with me forever.

Rajasthan has a lot of places that are worth visiting. Each city in Rajasthan is famous for their forts and other activities. Here is a list of few cities and their forts and activities shared in this post for your knowledge.

The city of Jaisalmer is known as the golden city of India because of the grand golden fort that is located at the center of the city. It is a gateway to the Great Indian Desert and is visited by thousands of tourists from different parts of the country. The golden fort is a must visit in Jaisalmer. When the sun rays fall on the fort, it looks dazzling as if it is made from gold. That is why it is named as the Golden Fort. In colloquial language, it is also known as the Sonar Quilla.

The Sam sand dune is yet another major tourist attraction of Jaisalmer. There are several desert camps next to the Sam sand dunes. You can stay put at one of them as per your preference and budget and explore the desert on a camel safari or a jeep safari. The sunset and the sunrise are some of the best times to visit the desert as the feel and the look of the desert at those times are surreal. Cost of desert safari at Jaisalmer for two is INR 1250.

I would suggest Dangri desert safari camp as cost of desert camps in jaisalmer for two in this camp is around INR 4000. Plus you can also check Jaisalmer Desert Tent where cost for desert tents in jaisalmer for two comes to INR 4500. Have a look at sites like Tripadvisor and Booking.com for rates and availability.

Jodhpur has two nicknames. One name is the blue city of Rajasthan which is given because of the numerous blue colored walls of buildings in the city, and the other name is the Sun City because of its beautiful, bright and sunny weather that it enjoys throughout the year. The Mehrangarh Fort is one of the major attractions of Jodhpur. The fort is on a small hill and traveling on an elephant back is how you can reach the fort. You can also visit and stay put at the Umaid Bhavan Palace. It is a luxurious accommodation provided at the Umaid Bhavan which you will surely enjoy.

Neemrana is an ancient town in the district of Alwar, Rajasthan. However, the town is home to the Neemrana Fort which calls for magnificent views from the surrounding town because it is located atop a hill. It is now converted into a heritage resort hotel. The Neemrana Baoli is yet another significant structure in the village of Neemrana. It is an underground nine storey structure that was originally built to provide famine relief to the people of Neemrana back in the 1760’s.

Bundi is a small town in Rajasthan and is made famous because of the Taragarh Fort and also the Bundi Palace. The Bundi Palace is a magnificent edifice that is built on the rock of a small hillside. The palace is also home to some fantastic gold and turquoise murals that are designed on the walls of the castle. There are other places of interests in Bundi too. You can visit the Naval Sagar Lake and also the Jait lake which are right places to sit next to the shore and relax.
